Gesellschaft für elektrische Hochleistungsprüfungen Member of Short-Circuit Testing Liaison (STL)

History

Right back in the period from 1930 to 1940, talks were already conducted between interested partners with the aim of establishing cooperation between the various high-performance testing laboratories at national level and, moreover, to enhance the feasibility of cooperation at international level.

Talks on the establishment of an association were first held in 1958. In 1959, the scope of the discussion was broadened and moves were made to get a little closer to approaching the British counterpart, the ASTA (Association of Short-Circuit Testing Authorities).

PEHLA was founded in March 1960 as a partnership under civil law (GbR).

“In order to make the experience of the individual high-performance test facilities available in their entirety, to establish uniform guidelines for testing, to perform tests accordingly, to exploit the experience made with these guidelines, to work together on the further development of the guidelines and to make these high-performance test facilities available to other companies, in that the products of other electro-technical companies can also be tested according to uniform guidelines in these test facilities, AEG, CE, SSW and V&H merge to form a partnership under civil law under the name Gesellschaft für elektrische Hochleistungsprüfungen Prüfung elektrischer Hochleistungsapparate - PEHLA.” - This was the motto and motivation of our predecessors in the Articles of Incorporation of PEHLA GbR in 1960.

Today - 60 years later - PEHLA GmbH operates three divisions Testing, Product Certification and Inspection and Services and offers its services "from one source" to its partners as well as all manufacturers and operators of electrical power distribution equipment for medium and high voltage worldwide.

We live the founding idea of PEHLA - every day anew and for every customer worldwide!

Founding members of PEHLA GbR:

  • SSW: SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT
  • V&H: CONTINENTALE ELEKTROINDUSTRIE AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT VOIGT & HAEFFNER

Following the national examples, an umbrella organization "Short-circuit Testing Liaison" (STL) was founded at international level with the same goals of international cooperation.

In 1969, together with ASTA, CESI and KEMA, PEHLA was one of the four founding members of the "Short-circuit Testing Liaison" (STL).
